MEET DAO
LOCAL KNOWLEDGE. MORE THAN TWO DECADES ON THE ROAD.
Daophasith Southummavong, known as Dao, was born in Sangkhalok Village and is based in Luang Prabang. He has worked in tourism across Laos since 2004.
His experience spans adventure travel and classic cultural tours, giving him a deep, practical understanding of the country’s geography, terrain and communities. He knows how the main roads connect with remote trails, off-road routes and single-track riding, and how conditions can change once the journey leaves the highway.
Years of travelling throughout Laos have also helped Dao build strong relationships with local people along the way. That local knowledge makes it possible to plan journeys that are adventurous, realistic and connected to the places riders travel through.
Dao rides motorcycles, drives support vehicles and genuinely enjoys meeting people, exchanging experiences and building new friendships.
More than a guide, Dao is the connection between the rider, the route and the people who call Laos home.
